Tori is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, supervised by Natalie Morse, LPC-S, RPT, and Whitney Russell, LPC-S, CEDS-S. She has worked in the mental health field for more than 10 years, starting out as a Recreation Therapist. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Recreation Therapy from Texas State University and her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Tech University.
Tori has experience working with different levels of care, including inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient, as well as in K-12 public schools and universities. She has over five years of experience working with eating disorders during her time at Children’s Medical Center in Plano, TX, as well as working with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and other disorders on the inpatient level at the Dallas, TX campus.
As a former competitive athlete, Tori is passionate about helping individuals find their self-worth outside of their sport and discover that they are more than just their skill and body image. Additionally, she is an LGBTQIA+ and Dreamer Ally, striving to empower clients through an individualized approach to advocate for themselves through the path of self-discovery.
Tori counsels from a person-centered approach but incorporates skills from other counseling theories, such as CBT, Solution Focused, and Reality Therapy. Additionally, with her recreation therapy background, she enjoys incorporating expressive arts, games, and mindfulness activities based on the client’s needs and goals, with respect to their age. She recognizes that each individual has their own unique experiences and path to recovery and doesn’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. She strives to ensure that her clients are treated with dignity and respect while remaining highly collaborative with the goal of attuning to the type of work and goals her clients are seeking.
