Shelby Richard

I specialize in working with high-achieving young girls and women—those with “Type-A” personalities who usually excel in honors classes or thrive in demanding careers. Despite their outward success, many of my clients struggle with a relentless inner critic that slowly wears down their self-esteem. The pursuit of perfection often drives these well-intentioned women toward an intense need for control, persistent anxious thoughts, extreme dieting, and/or excessive exercise.

My goal is to help my clients understand that self-acceptance doesn’t mean losing ambition. Rather, it is the key to sustainable success and true fulfillment. In a world that glorifies unrealistic achievements and beauty standards, I offer a space where you can show up exactly as you are—whether in your best-dressed outfit or a messy bun and PJ’s. Here, you’ll be accepted, supported, and empowered to heal.

I am well-versed in treating body image struggles, self-esteem issues, and eating disorders. In addition, I work with co-occurring conditions like Social Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). My approach is integrative, incorporating evidence-based therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
